Over 12 years ago, my family and I arrived in Costa Rica searching for a better quality of life, connection with nature, and community. What we found in the Machuca Valley was the start of something truly special — a place where people from around the world come together with shared values: simplicity, sustainability, and belonging.

We were part of the early pioneer group that helped establish Ecovilla, Casa Sula, and the wider intentional community that has since flourished here. Back then, the expat presence was small, the road a little bumpier, and the future uncertain — but the vision was alive.

Today, we are a blended Latin–Swiss family deeply rooted in both the expat and local cultures. We speak the language, understand the systems, and — most importantly — we’ve lived the experience of making this place home. That’s why I created this site: to help others navigate the journey of relocating, investing, and thriving in the Machuca Valley and the surrounding areas.
